Omi Chat

messaging without the number.

Omi Chat starts with a handle, not a phone number. pick a name and start talking — the digits never enter the form.

01 · identity

a number is not an identity.

most messengers treat your phone number as the account. Omi Chat treats it as optional — because for a lot of people, handing over a number was the exact part they wanted to skip.

what we ask for

  • handlerequired
  • phone numbernot required
  • carrier / simnot required

what we don’t build

no “people you may know” scraped from your address book, and no number-based discovery. your contacts stay on your phone, where they already were.

what leaving looks like

no number tied to the account means no number attached to a delete request. remove the handle, take the messages with you.

02 · the thread

what crosses the wire, and what doesn’t.

your handle and your messages travel. your phone number stays at the edge, and that is the whole trick.

  • @handle · sent
  • message · carried
  • thread · opened

    get Omi Chat

install it and open it. there is no sim prompt waiting on the first screen.

  2. 02

    pick a handle

choose the name people will know you by. that single field is the whole account.

  3. 03

    start talking

share the handle, open a thread, and the rest of the product stays out of the way.
